PRESS SUCCESS – WE ARE CAJUN ::

Kickstarter isn’t only a way to fund important projects that would mean a lot to a lot of people.  Sometimes your losing campaign is a significant win win in the way of promotions.  Crowd-sourced funding turns out to be a substantial way to promote your project whether or not you reach your funding goal.

This, however, requires a lot of hard work.  I dedicated long hours on the phone, on email, and even filming my own half of interviews for television stations to get the word out.  In the end, my latest documentary film, We Are Cajun, may not be funded… VIA KICKSTARTER… but it’s now a project that has emotional backers and got a lot of play in a short period of time.  A fantastic promotional blast.

Here’s a few examples of where you can now find information about the film:

Fundraiser begins for Cajun Documentary ::

Former Acadiana Resident Returns to Film New Documentary, We Are Cajun.

We Are Cajun Film PosterLANCASTER, PA. – April 16, 2012, Native to Lafayette, Louisiana, filmmaker Allen Clements of Postage, Inc., reaches out to his fellow Cajuns in Acadiana to capture what it means to be Cajun in his new documentary, We Are Cajun. As a misplaced Cajun in the Philadelphia area, Clements is missing home. He returned to Louisiana on April 25 to begin filming for the documentary. Several more trips are planned after this online fundraiser.

Fueled by the interest and confusion of others as to what the Cajun culture actually is, Clements says he is seeking to illuminate something that has been in the shadows for many people all over the world. He hopes to clarify and distinguish between generalities about Louisiana and the deep Cajun culture that emanates from the hub city, Lafayette.

Fearful he will lose touch with his identity and heritage as time passes, Clements wants to learn if the Cajun culture is disappearing. During his trips to the South, he plans to interview real Cajun people who are preserving their culture. He also hopes to finally answer the fundamental question, “What is Cajun?”

In this feature length documentary film, Clements hopes to capture and expose the rare pride, trust, and interconnectivity that are deep-seated in the Cajun culture.
“Anyone can open a history book,” says Clements. “I want to know what makes Cajuns who they are today.” Some of the film’s areas of focus include Cajun food, music, dance, family traditions, and the Cajun-French dialect.

To help make the film a reality, Clements is reaching out to the public for crowd funding through a Kickstarter campaign, which launched this morning. He is also recruiting the help of a production team from Channel One Digital, Inc. in Lafayette.

Clements would appreciate interview opportunities while filming in Louisiana and over the phone or email.

When complete, We Are Cajun in HD will be on a circuit of screens and film festivals. The film will be released digitally as well as on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Filming in Cajun Country ::

After filming in Louisiana for a couple weeks, Allen will be on his way back to Lancaster in just a few days. He is coming back from Acadiana with some great footage for We Are Cajun. A Documtary Film. While visiting his homeland, Allen gathered handfuls of successful interviews which are going to make the film much easier to piece together. On the trip he spoke with Trent Angers of Acadian House Publishing who authored The Truth About The Cajuns. He captured the process of crawfishing as presented by master fishermans of their craft. In Lafayette, he attended Festival International where he filmed the French Mass and performers of Cajun music. These preservers of the Cajun culture are sure to hilight and shape the film’s message.

Allen and the rest of us at Postage are excited for the next steps ahead towards making the film a possibility.
