What is the 24 Hour Challenge?

FUBAR: Kilroy was Here
is a mobile (iPhone and Android) game based on the popular FUBAR Graphic Novel. The game was created as a challenge for the hybrid team of Postage, Inc. and AppMobi. Both of these businesses are headquartered in Lancaster, PA. One is an award winning Animation Studio and Post House… the other, a cutting edge mobile developer.  Between the two of us, we were able to create an interactive touch-based game from concept, to illustration, to animation, to coding in just 24 hours… and thanks to the special software and skills of AppMobi, that game could be deployed to iPhone and Android almost simultaneously.  Postage, Inc. even worked with original Artist and Creator, Jeff McComsey to produce interstitial motion comics!  So you get a cool story, great art, and a fun game for free by downloading FUBAR: Kilroy was Here in your favorite App Store.

The Story of Fubar: Kilroy Was Here.

In the World of Fubar, the Zombie Apocalypse is unfolding during World War II.  You are Sgt. Kilroy of the US Army special forces. You are called to drop in behind enemy lines and take out some major German communications facilities.  Upon landing you seek to locate your fellow soldiers only to discover that the enemies you face are far from what you expected.  This single-level game takes you through hedgerow country in Southern France.  You have only what you’ve brought with you. An M1911A1 standard issue pistol, a Winchester 1897 Trench Gun, and somehow, you also have a M2A1-7 US Army flamethrower. Ammunition is limited, and your enemy… the undead. Can you reach the safety of the allied perimeter?

Want to know more? Order FUBAR, the 170-page graphic novel by Jeff McComsey today. Read short illustrated stories based on the actual events of World War II. (But with zombies of course.)
Fubar’s official website is an ongoing blog: zombiefubar.wordpress.com. The blog features information, production information on the upcoming second book as well as lots and lots of expressive fan-art.

The Characters.

Sgt. Kilroy
The Hero… He’s looking for his team behind enemy lines. He enjoys a fat cigar while he’s roasting zombies.

Nazi Zombie Soldier
This guy would like to eat your brains. No offense.

Nazi Zombie Officer
Apparently, the dead know no ranks… because this zombie also only wants to eat your brains.

Allied Zombie
This is a real bummer. It appears that several members of Kilroy’s team have “turned.” So much for backup..

What’s Next?

We hope you enjoy The 24 Hour challenge version of this game. We are currently discussing the possibility of using the additional drawn and colored tile-sets that we produced during the challenge to create a multi-level version of FUBAR with additional motion-comic interstitials.  For those who have downloaded this game, we’ll use the App Stores to let you know when that happens. Until then, have a blast disintegrating Nazi zombies. The future of the free (and living) world depends on it!
